Baraboo, Wisconsin. Population 11,297. Home to the Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue & Education Center. And well worth the trip just to check out these beautiful animals, all rescued from small-town circus rings or zoos, big cat pet-proprietors, or individuals who have no business raising a large animal (or any animal for that matter!).
Home to roughly 35 lions, tigers, and leopards, the Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue & Education Center works to rehabilitate the cats, all of which arrive traumatized from abusive or neglected environments. They also focus efforts on educating patrons on the importance of passing and enforcing legislation that will protect big cats and ensure punishment for individuals who abuse them. I was certainly touched and inspired by the dedication of the staff to care for these beautiful animals, proving once again that it only takes a few, dedicated people to make a BIG difference in this world. Big cats deserve big pictures. Enjoy!
